Outdoor Promise Featured in Governor Hochul’s Announcement: “$3.5 Million for Environmental Justice Initiatives”

We were recognized by Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) as one of 22 community-based organizations awarded funding through the Environmental Justice Community Impact Grants. Outdoor Promise received support for our project “Newburgh’s Water: Flowing Through Time,” which focuses on research, community education, and hands-on environmental initiatives to address local water quality challenges.

This recognition highlights the growing importance of community-led environmental justice work in cities like Newburgh. At Outdoor Promise, we believe that equitable access to environmental education and clean water is essential for a healthy and resilient community. Support from New York State allows us to continue empowering youth and residents to understand their environment, advocate for change, and take part in building a sustainable future.
