Nonprofits, schools and community groups in the Hudson Valley can co-host a free outdoor program with Outdoor Promise. You bring your group; we plan the day with you and bring everyone there and back on the Adventure Bus.

Why we do this
Outdoor Promise builds community power for clean air, safe water and fair access to the outdoors, starting in Newburgh. Many small organizations want to get their people outside and have no way to get there. Our outdoor access program exists so that a good day in nature never falls apart over the trip. It is grant-funded and free for the groups we work with.
What a co-hosted program includes
- A day outdoors planned with you: a park, trail, river or outdoor-education site within the Hudson Valley, about 90 minutes from Newburgh at most.
- The 15-passenger Outdoor Promise Adventure Bus with a trained, insured Outdoor Promise driver. You never arrange a driver.
- Coordination before the day: pickup point, timing, headcount, weather plan.
- No fee, no fuel charge, no required donation.
What we ask of partners
- The program gets people outdoors or into environmental education — that is what our funding is for.
- You are a nonprofit, school, faith group, mutual-aid group or grassroots community organization.
- Your group is 14 people or fewer and you provide the adult chaperones and supervision.
- You ask at least two weeks ahead and can be flexible if weather or availability forces a change.
- Afterwards, a photo or a few lines we can share with the funders who make this possible.
Who we prioritize
Smaller organizations that open the outdoors to communities that have been left out: youth, low-income families, immigrant and BIPOC communities, and people without reliable transportation of their own, in Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland, Westchester and nearby counties. We are a small team running a pilot, so we cannot say yes to every request, but we read every one and will always tell you where things stand.
How it works
- Request a program with the short form below (about five minutes).
- We review the fit and our driver’s availability and reply within three business days.
- We plan the day together and confirm the date, meeting point, timing and headcount.
- On the day, our driver handles the road and you lead your group.
Please ask at least two weeks before your preferred date; earlier is better, since dates fill. A request is not confirmed until we reply to lock it in.
Good to know
- Is it free? Yes. The program is funded by grants and donations; there is no fee and no required donation.
- Who drives? An Outdoor Promise driver, always.
- How many people? Up to 14, plus our driver.
- Can it repeat? Tell us in the form; we do what we can within the pilot.
- Accessibility or car seats? Note any needs in the form so we can plan.
- Liability. Each participant (or a parent or guardian for minors) completes the Outdoor Promise Risk Release before the day: sign online or download the PDF.
